About the Author

Tina Lonski is a retired English teacher and journalist. She’s a Detroit native who grew up in Blissfield, a small town in Lenawee County in southeast Michigan, and the locale for the stories in Barn Raising.

In researching the barn book, she returned to Blissfield several times to interview people who grew up with the barns of her stories and to photograph the barns.

A graduate of Eastern Michigan University and Michigan State University, Tina taught high school English and journalism for 13 years before embarking on a career in newspaper writing and professional association communications and later, teaching news writing at Michigan State University in East Lansing.

In 2007, she published her first book, A Transplanted Yooper: Mostly True Stories of Michigan's U.P., which has received awards from the Michigan Press Women and the National Federation of Press Women.
